Ethandweni White Water Sai Children's Home

Our Home : staff
Drawn from the local villages, our staff form a loving and dedicated family for our children. Two have grown up as orphans themselves, without finishing their secondary schooling.

Staff have been trained in the STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) methodology for understanding the emotional needs of children, and providing positive and practical responses.

They also have received training in the Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) programme. STEP and SSEHV complement and work well together, respectively providing psychological and spiritual groundings. They both inform day-to-day work at the Home as part of an integrated value-based approach.

All staff receive training in how to care for children who have HIV/AIDs, and for traumatised children. The need for emotional and professional support of our staff is also recognised.

Virginia Ndlovu
In October 2006 one of the Mothers at our Home, Virginia Ndlovu, was violently sexually assaulted and killed on her way home for the weekend, to celebrate the birth of a grandchild.

She is sorely missed by the children and staff of Ethandweni.

Efa Ndlovu
Efa's father was the Kraal Head for our village. When he passed away in 2005, as his sole surviving child, it was her traditional duty to take over his role in the local community.

She continues to maintain close links and support for the Home.
